Elementary Education and Special Education (B.S.)
A Special Education major must double major in Elementary Education. A student cannot, therefore, major only in Special Education. Also, a student cannot be an Early Childhood and Special Education double major or a Secondary Education and Special Education double major.
The Special Education major is one of the components of the program designed to ready candidates to apply for R.I. teacher certification in grades 1-6. Elementary Education and Special Education majors complete 49–51 credits of core courses and 80 credits of major courses to earn a bachelor’s degree.
