History and Secondary Education (B.A.S.)
Students choosing a double major in History and Secondary Education take a combination of American, European, and Non-Western history classes. Students complete a minimum of 120 credits to earn a bachelor's degree, including 41–44 credits of core courses, 35 credits of History courses, and 43 credits of Secondary Education courses. See Education Department for requirements of the Secondary Education major.
The Department makes History/Secondary Education majors aware that, in preparation for secondary education social studies certification in Rhode Island, they need to take two social science courses in addition to their history courses. These two courses will be ECN-101 Introductory Macroeconomics and POL-115 The American Political System.
