Early Childhood and Special Education (B.S.)
A Special Education major must double major in either Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education. A student cannot, therefore, major only in Special Education.
The Special Education major is one of the components of the program designed to ready candidates to apply for R.I. special education teacher certification from birth through Grade 2. The Early Childhood major is one of the components of the program designed to ready candidates to apply for R.I. teacher certification in Grades PreK-2. Early Childhood Education and Special Education majors complete a minimum of 120 credits to earn a bachelor's degree, including 41–44 credits of core courses and 84 credits of major courses.
