Elementary Education and Special Education (B.S.)

A Special Education major must double major in Elementary Education. A student cannot, therefore, major only in Special Education. Also, a student cannot be an Early Childhood and Special Education double major or a Secondary Education and Special Education double major.

Major Requirements

The Special Education major is one of the components of the program designed to ready candidates to apply for R.I. teacher certification in grades 1-6 mild/moderate special needs. In addition to completing the course work for the Elementary Education major, all Special Education majors complete the following nine courses (34 credits):
