VIA in Latin denotes a “pathway.” Students in Salve Regina University’s VIA Program will discover:
1) A pathway through Salve’s core curriculum.
2) A pathway through the five critical concerns of the Sisters of Mercy: non-violence, anti-racism, the earth, women, and immigration.
3) A pathway through their four years at Salve that will lead to the lifelong pursuit of wisdom and mercy - essential components of “the good life.”
4) A pathway through a broad-based liberal arts education which develops the “real life skills” valued in the contemporary work-place.
Students in VIA become part of an active learning community, taking seminar-style courses that emphasize active engagement and focused discussion. All students receive information about the VIA program during the fall semester of first year. To assure full consideration, students interested in joining VIA should indicate their interest to either of the co-directors in time for Spring Registration.
